Samantha’s practice covers a broad range of civil work, with a particular focus on personal injury. She regularly represents Claimants and Defendants in fast track trials, CCMCs, stage 3 MOJ hearings, disposals, infant and patient approvals, small claims hearings and all interlocutory applications.
In addition to her personal injury practice, Samantha is regularly instructed in relation to matters arising out of contractual disputes, boundary disputes, nuisance and credit hire.
Samantha has experience in representing the family of the deceased and other interested parties at inquests and representing clients at mediations, particularly in relation to boundary disputes.
Prior to joining chambers Samantha also had a busy paper practice alongside her court work where she would regularly advise on liability and quantum as well as drafting pleadings. Having worked in house for 8 years, Samantha appreciates the needs of solicitors so she always aims to complete and return papers as soon as possible.
After completing the Bar Vocational Course, Samantha joined Lyons Davidson Solicitors as a trainee advocate. During her 8 years with the firm, she undertook the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test, which enabled her to practice as a Solicitor, she later obtained her higher rights of audience in both civil and criminal proceedings. Due to her experience in house, Samantha was granted pupillage exemption and began practice as an employed Barrister. Alongside her court work and paper practice, Samantha was involved in the management of the Leeds based advocates from an early stage, and later led the team as the team leader of the Leeds advocates.
During her time with Lyons Davidson, Samantha prepared and delivered training to internal case handlers, external clients and advocates within her department.
